February is Black History Month. In CASTLES students read many books about famous african americans. They then chose one and wrote an amazing report. They are all hung outside of CASTLES for the month of February. If you get a chance stop by and read them. I have photographed the wonderful work and posted it below.
-A couple of students did not get to participate in this activity.-

Mrs. Wotton's Question and Comments

Welcome parents and friends of CASTLES. I have been looking for an easy online way for you to see some of the amazing work the students do. So this year I started the CASTLES wiki, this is a fun way for me to differentiate the wonderful work we do at school.

My next task was for a way to include parents! I have started this blog to give you a way to question or comment the wiki site.

Let's see how this goes!

Thank you,
Mrs. Wotton

For Christmas in CASTLES, we wrote and illustrated a book titled "The Twelve days of CASTLES!" It is a remake of "The Twelve Days of Christmas." We began the unit by reading different versions of the classic song "The Twelve Days of Christmas." Then we asked the students what we should name our book. They had many suggestions, but voted on "The twelve days of Christmas." The students then used a computer program (Tux Paint) to illustrate their page. Check out the CASTLES book below.

For Veterans Day our students made this flag by hand painting two large sheets of paper, then writing numbers on strips of paper, either by 1's, 2's, 5's or 10's. We used the paper for the stripes. Then we took pictures of the students and put them on stars. The best part happened after the beautiful mural was hung, we took a picture and created post cards to send to Veterans. If you know a Veteran please share this beautiful picture with them as our way of saying thank you.
